Susanna Kelley
Susanna Kelley is a veteran investigative and political journalist, documentary-maker and commentator with nearly 20 years experience covering Canadian and Ontario politics, First Nations issues, the economy, the environment, and a host of other issues. She spent 14 years as Queen’s Park Bureau Chief at TVO, breaking many stories on flagship current affairs programs, Studio 2 and The Agenda With Steve Paikin, including a fundraising dinner with big developers held by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and then-finance minister Greg Sorbara as they planned what lands would be included in the new provincial Greenbelt. While at Studio 2, she produced the segment, Fourth Reading, a weekly look at provincial politics in depth, as well as co-hosting the Backroom 411 segment with CBC Radio's Robert Fisher, which revealed the behind the scenes political machinations at Queen's Park. Most recently she produced documentaries for The Current on conditions on the remote Native community of North Spirit Lake, where crack cocaine addiction is rampant, as well as ‘The Long Hot Summer’ which transpires behind the barricades of a Native Warrior blockade of a major provincial highway. Her report uncovered how a heavily armed police raid was averted at the last minute. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto with an Honours B.A. in Political Science.
